Here are a few of the pictures from the Jimmy Buffett concert in Detroit last Saturday. I was in attendance sitting on the floor to the right of the baseball diamond. I love that shot of the concert floor and the diamond from up in the rafters. It's very artful how they carve the floor out of the outfield. The parrotheads were in full force and I was loving it... as evidenced by my previous post.

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
The Jimmy Buffett concert on Saturday provided some newfound inspiration for me style ventures. The venue and surrounding parking lots and rooftops were covered with "parrotheads" tailgating in preparation for the Margaritaville festivities. Nearly every person in attendance was in some type of tropical print, lending a color palette to the concert as vibrant as the event's attendees. Considering the obvious joy and elation of all participants, I couldn't help but get inspired by the fashion. Hawaiian shirts are usually a fashion statement reserved for the over-50 Key West spinster set, but a little practical interpretation for the fashion world reinterprets this look and turns it into something happy and awesome. Maybe there is something to be said about Changes in Latitudes...

Menswear: Just Because
These menswear photos really don't have anything to do with one another, but aren't things sometimes more fun that way? Here are some menswear stills I'm feeling right now.

Look of the Day: Embroidery
Zoe Saldana working it at the Armani Privé show in Paris earlier this month. I love this look for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's Armani Privé. Second, its embroidered. Third, it's on Zoe Saldana. This woman can do no wrong in the fashion department. When she's not wearing every piece in the latest Prabal Gurung collection, she's working it in something else that's fabulous. This time its tangerine and silver embroidered perfection. The simplicity of this is in the accessories. They're basic, but they have to be because the dress is bold. And the hair and makeup add a touch of casual to her evening look. In the last photo, the colors in the embroidery can really be seen, and they work so well with Zoe's skin tone and coloring. Being dressed in the designer of the evening and attending his show front row definitely agrees with Zoe.

Look of the Day: Coral Skinny
Continuing on with the color theme, here is Karolina Kurkova looking awesome in bright coral skinny jeans and an array of tan and grey basics. The color scheme is perfect - layering a navy blue top under the sweater breaks up the look and is a great alternative to the usual white or black layering pieces. And not to be outdone in this look are the cognac PS11 and metallic flats (that match the bag's hardware). Unreal. This look is so good. The best part is that most people probably have the basics of this look already in their closet. Almost every woman I know has some version of colored jeans, and if you don't have a lightweight grey sweater you just aren't living. If you don't yet own a pair of red (or any color) jeans, you can make this look work with basic blues by switching the grey sweater for something bright. Or better yet, flip the trends upside down and style grey (or light) jeans with a coral sweater and the proper accents.

Color in Menswear
Menswear in the morning. There are few things better than a good neutral ensemble. But variety is the spice of life, so every now and again there needs to be some color thrown into the mix. The menswear palette is typically more muted than what we have in women's fashion, so throwing some color into a basic outfit is unexpected. Side note on mixing prints: apparently fashion tells us that we can just throw two prints together and they should work. You're fashionable if you look like you got dressed in the dark and anyone who owns two floral patterns can be trendy. Men are so much better at print mixing. Why? The men's palette. It's simple and neutral. And camo. Camo goes with everything (see last photo).

Summertime Styles
These are some of the hairstyles I'm currently digging. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with you hair style and color, so I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from these styles lately. I've actually had most of these styles (braid, bob, bangs, ombré) but I'm not sure I pulled them off as well as these ladies. Like accessories, a good hairstyle can amp up a basic outfit, so I'm extra inclined to try out some new things this season.
Zoe Saldana's relaxed braid
Felicity Jones' sweet style
Jessica Alba's beachy waves
Kate Bosworth's soft curls
Alexa Chung's cheeky bob
Lily Aldridge's perfect ombré
January Jones' rose streaks
