Men's Jacket

While on campus yesterday, I wanted to wear my new jacket I scored at the Urban Outfitters President's Day sale. If you missed me raving about this jacket, I'll reiterate. $170 Commando men's jacket for $14. They only had size small left (obviously), but the small must have been extra extra small on the boys because I'm really petite and it fits me perfectly albeit a bit long sleeved. I'm seriously dying over this jacket though, it's amazingly crafted. First of all, it's two-tone. The vest part of the jacket is a mossy colored wool with cool utility pockets and zippers. The sleeves are quilted fabric and are really well lined so it's a really warm piece. The zippers up the sleeves allow for it to be a little girly-er with a bell sleeve, and it's a great color combination in the sunlight (see: first picture). It has a very man repeller - Elizabeth and James feel, which I love. I can't wait to pair this with skirts and dresses for my week in Vail for next week's Spring Break. I'll make sure to take a million pictures in the mountains - the rust and coffee colored suede skirts I ordered came just in time.

The New Silhouette

A few months ago when I was in South Carolina, I picked up a pair of beautiful snakeskin pointed toe pumps at the Vince Camuto store. I didn't think I would like them because they weren't the 5 inch heel I was used to, but I ended up obsessed with them. After some serious regret about not buying my new favorite pointed toe pumps in every color, I went on a search for the perfect patent pump, with a little more daring height. I came across these beautiful Aldo shoes and decided I needed them. Unfortunately I was not informed that the sizing of these particular shoes was WAY off, and my usual size 8 feet could barely squeeze into the size 9's I ordered. So they had to go back - major sigh. They were perfect, and now I can't find them anywhere in the silhouette and price that I found them for earlier. Very reminiscent of the Christian Louboutin pigalle heel, this is the perfect heel. I'm so tired of the Kim Kardashian-esque 7-inch heel round toe platform pumps, so these are an amazing departure that I can't wait to wear more of. The pointed toe is so elongating and makes the leg look so amazing. Need this shoe silhouette in every style and color imaginable.

Neon in Menswear

For this installment of Menswear Weekends, we will be exploring the presence of neon in fashion. Men's fashion, specifically, has had a surge of color throw into it in recent seasons, so we're finally starting to see color in pieces other than accessories. Suits are breaking out in neon hues, most recently in the Versace collections for H&M, with those insane pink head to toe looks. I actually had a rather difficult time finding pictures of neon in menswear pictures, but a quick jaunt to Jak & Jil and there I have it. Note to men in fashion: the fastest way to get streetstyle snapped is to sport some neon. Then I realize if I type "Brad Goreski" into Goolge Images I'll have enough material for a whole post. Hmm... maybe tomorrow?

Striped Sunday

For a lazy, relaxed Sunday, I wanted to wear a simple but fresh outfit with some spring to it. It was such a great day and the weather was amazing for the middle of January. The lime green striped shirt was the perfect thing to wear with fur for a little bit of spring celebration. On this day, I went to lunch and hit the Urban Outfitters President's Day sale and scored some serious swag. I got a studded wallet in this interesting bone color on sale because I've been looking for a new wallet for a while. When Nick and I were down in the sale section looking at the men's selection, I spotted this amazing coat that was only available in size small. I tried it on and loved it. The price, on top of the 30% off all sale, got me the jacket for $14. A $170 jacket with a VERY man repeller - Elizabeth and James feel. I needed it. I'll make sure to get that up on the blog soon. And now for a new Menswear Weekends.

Photoshoots

A while back, Nick was asked to pose for some pictures by his photographer friend. After about 7 outfit changes and 300+ pictures, our friend Jeff from JeFRESH Media finished the photoshoot with a very H&M/Express/Men's Health-inspired portfolio. I was there support and doing some outfit consulting and I jumped into a few of the pictures in between outfits. I wish I'd prepared myself a little better for these pictures, but I think they're pretty cute anyway. Hopefully I'll have some of the pictures from the mock ads Jeff will be creating for the next Menswear Weekends, but for now I have the pictures of Nick and I. It's really amazing what Jeff can do with a camera, a studio and photoshop, and I'm really impressed with his skill and professionalism. Stay tuned for the rest of Nick and Jeff's shoot and check out Jeff's website and the JeFRESH Facebook!

Insta-Feb

I haven't gotten the chance to do an Instagram segment lately, and I feel like this is the perfect time with all of the pictures I got surrounding Valentine's Day. I've been breaking out my sneakers a lot lately, with people going crazy about them, and trying to find new ways to wear them. I'm still in love so that's a good sign. Most of these other photos (Breaking Dawn/Hunger Games, the single red rose, cupcakes) were all Valentine's Day treats, and my last three, are my favorite things right now. Mittens, my brother's new kitten houseguest for the next few weeks, is literally the love of my life. I should do a post dedicated to everything Mittens. It would blow your mind. And then my sheets, all color coded in neutrals in my huge cloud bed, and my new stud wallet in bone. (I'll have a post up soon about my new wallet and the awesome men's jacket I got at the UO sales this weekend).

Jak and Jil Menswear

While perusing Tommy Ton's Jak and Jil this evening, I decided to make some selections from the first few pages of the site, just because. I try to group these menswear posts, with themes like details and style brotherhoods, but these particular photos are so good and I don't feel the need to group them into any category other than "awesome". Menswear has the steeze that womenswear can't achieve as easily, so go ahead and file these under that title.

On Stylish Friendships

Now for this weeks Menswear Weekends we examine the ultimate sartorial delight. The well-dressed brotherhood. Seeing one guy rock a suit is great, but a group of well-suited gents is seriously awesome. Building friendships based on similar fashion tastes is a great idea, where clothes are shared (and friends don't let friends wear too much neon), but bringing your well-dressed pack out for a few hours is a necessity. Men take note of these gentlemen below - they know what they are doing.

New In: Chicago and Shoes

Some things I picked up on our 2 hour shopping spree in Chicago. It probably wasn't the best idea to go shopping before we drove back home in a snowstorm, but I think I got some pretty great pieces that I'm really happy with. I've decided that my new thing is knitwear tanks. They're the perfect layering pieces for winter and will transition into spring and summer pretty amazingly. And I have finally gotten around to snapping some decent pictures of the new additions to my shoe closet. My beloved Isabel Marant Bekkets will be a staple on my feet for the next few months years decades, so get ready to be seeing much more of them. These sweet little Dolce Vita booties were a lustworthy object for a while, and then I found them at Piperlime for $30. They're especially great with skirts and tights and so, so perfect for the winter.
