Happy Halloween!
I've been so busy over the weekend with all of the halloween festivities. And now I'm paying the price for all of my fun over the weekend. I woke up this morning feeling very sick, so now I'm just laying in bed experiencing Halloween from under my covers. But to round out the weekend, I was a kitty cat, Joe turned 21+1 and Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas are the best holiday movies. Hopefully I'll be feeling better and able to get in some good outfit posts later in the weekend. Until then its chinese take-out and lots of tea. (Oh, and more photos to come!)

Halloween Inspo
my favorite - fancy kitty
indian chief
(masquerade?) peacock
Rumi Neely as Princess Mononoke
another pretty kitty
i LOVE this one - sexy tiger
leopard and friend
jungle cat + vampire
masquerade queen
I picked a few of my favorite looks/costumes for Halloween. If you're in a college town, your holiday starts in Thursday/Friday, so there's little time to finish up costumes. I'm not hugely into the oh-so-womanly tradition of dressing like a little slut tart when it's 40 (or 30) degrees outside. Maybe if Halloween was in the middle of the summer, I could wear something tight and short, but its a month away from winter, so take a cue from (some of) these ladies and dress somewhat appropriately. Not to say I won't be dressing like a crazy person - I'll still be wearing liquid leggings, Litas and a bustier - but I am definitely kicking it (somewhat) conservative this year.
If you need a simple costume or you don't know what to be yet, I suggest wearing all black, and strapping things to yourself (a la bird feathers, peacock feathers, etc.) or throwing a mask/headpiece and festive jacket over the black. Done. And nearly free! Oh, and false lashes in a theme or your outfit are a MUST.
The first photo (lovely girl in the top hat) is my inspiration this year for my costume. Photos to come after the weekend of my costume, but I'm wearing leggings, black leather Litas, everything else black, and a top hat in kitty makeup. Simple, fun and I didn't have to buy a full ensemble to make a cute costume. Depending on how many nights of the weekend I go out, I might be a bird of paradise as well. That costume will consist of bright colorblock pieces and a multitude of feathers. cannot. wait.
ENJOY!

Casual Friday
Finally getting around to wearing boots with socks! And I'm loving the look. Anyways, this is going to be short because I have exactly one million things to do this week. Halloween is this weekend too! I am going to attempt to get in as many posts as possible while working this week, but I'm super busy so hopefully I can squeeze in a sexy halloween costumes post at some point.

Colors That Don't Match
jewelry: Forever 21, H&M, DIY
Dressed up for a night out. We had a lot of friends visiting, so it was the perfect night to wear things that don't match. But it ended up working out perfectly because this outfit photographed so well. I think I'm going to wear it everywhere for the rest of my life. Just kidding, not the entire rest of my life. Maybe just half.

Socks With Everything
skirt: Forever 21, sweater: J. Crew, tissue tee: J. Crew, sandals: Fahrenheit, socks: American Apparel
This is one of those trends that I've always liked, but I've never really tried. I want to get into this more... I love the look of the socks and sandals. Even socks and boots. I need to try this more often. It's super easy, simple, and it can elevate a look in a rustic-cool way that you just can't achieve without a plush sock.
This look works best with a short skirt and sandals, or with leggings and tall boots. When wearing boots with socks, it works best when the boot is a fit close to the leg, rather than a slouch or wide-leg opening boot. The best part about socks and sandals is that the look lends a casualness to a mini skirt. Fall-ify your skirts with a chunky knit, platform sandals and thick socks. The perfect formula for a sexy-cozy autumn look.

10,000
10,000 views on the blog!
Today I reached 10,000 views! Thank you to everyone who has supported me since I started the blog in June. I've had the best time, met some great people, and gotten so into blogging. I love it. So thank you to everyone, for all of the continued love and kind words.
Thank You!
Lazy Sunday
Just a little update for the afternoon. After a very long weekend, I am needing a break from parties and yelling and craziness. So I'm holed up in my room curled up under the covers hoping for a good movie to come on. Emergen-C and lots of food is in the card for today. Once the pictures from the weekend go up I'll have some new posts. Love you all!

Burgundy Skinnies
An outfit for burgundy skinnies. There's so many other ways that you can wear them, but this will be my favorite this fall. Hopefully I can find some jeans in an amazing color, but we'll see.
sweater: Isabel Marant, jacket: Reiss, burgundy jeans: Current/Elliot, bag: Alexander Wang Coco Duffle, black boots and leopard loafers: Zara, cuff: Dannijo
all from Polyvore
In the Leaves
Wearing my new shoes for a day in the leaves. This indian summer we have been having is surreal. The normal temperature spike usually lasts about 3 days, but we've been going on 70-80 degrees highs for the past two weeks. It ends today, and although I'm disappointed about temperatures dropping, I am ready for all my new sweaters.

To Keep or Not to Keep?
I've been searching for a burgundy sweater a la Rumi Neely (here and here) for weeks now and I cannot seem to find one that I'm in love with. I need the perfect pink-burgundy marled thick knit. This seemed to fit the bill, and I really like it, but I can't decide if it's a keeper. Also, this outfit is major inspiration. Do I keep the Gap sweater or return it and continue my search elsewhere?

At My Makeup Table
A couple of shots from my vanity, along with some new additions to my eyeshadow collection. I've been searching everywhere for neutral shadow palettes. Matte color is super important to me so I needed a palette that had a great selection of simple browns, pinks and taupes. I found the square collection, "Champagne and Caviar", from NYX Cosmetics. It has a great selection of nude shadows, and it's great for a cool smokey eye. The round shadow palette, "Smoky Neutrals" from Laura Mercier, was a gift from my aunt, and is perfect because it has colors that my other one doesn't. So ideal.

Shoes and Flowers
New shoes! Sorry I've been so absent lately. I've been so busy, and now I'm going to have some time because it's the weekend!! I got these babies in today, and I'm in love. They're very 70's platform style and I think I'm going to wear them all the time everywhere. Much like the boots I just got. I've worn them every day since I got them 2 weeks ago. Literally every day.
shoes: Fahrenheit
my beloved(s)
boots: H&M
...and a little baby preview of the next post...
I made a HUGE change to my look today. So scared, but I actually really love it, and it's a great change of pace for me. Can anyone guess? I'm sure you can, ha there's only a few things I can really change about myself. And apparently my weight is not one of them... But I'll post about that in the coming days! In the meantime, everyone think of ways I can wear my new shoes. I only have 200 outfits picked out so far.

New Boots
You can't see them, but I got new boots. And I've worn them like every single day this week so far. I know it's Monday, but I mean like for the past week. Anyways, they're amazing, and they're from H&M.

DIY Tom Binns Style
I saw so many DIY tutorials on this after the Tom Binns painted jewel necklaces became big. I love the look of the necklaces, with the bright colors and the sparkle. A great combo, and I wanted to try to recreate it myself.
Tom Binns painted jewel necklace
I took some of my jewel tone nail polishes, found some crystal jewelry that I wanted to repurpose, and got to work.
Revlon, Milani, Essie and Sally Hanson nail polish
First, some old earrings from Urban Outfitters:
fuchsia accent
And second, a vintage shoe clip that I'll probably make into a necklace somehow.
bad photo, but this one turned out amazing
And there you have it. I'm so obsessed with doing this, and if you ever get sick of the colors you've painted something, you can take it off with nail polish remover. Awesome. Now I'm going to go look for some more crystal jewelry to paint...
