New On Twitter

I'm really digging on my new Twitter background. I don't exactly know who she is, but I really, really like her. If someone could tell me who she is, I'd appreciate it. I felt that I needed a Twitter background that accurately expressed my personality, and now I have one. (Instead of some random lines that look like a semi-cool blanket.) I'm thinking about changing it regularly just to spice up ya life, but we'll see if I actually get around to it. While we're at it, follow me on Twitter to see so many hilarious tweets about my life and friends and fashion. Just kidding, it's mostly "new post featuring... [insert blog post URL here]" and then a few anecdotes about how tragic but blessed life (in general) is. Follow follow!

From the Dressing Room

Sometimes when I'm bored and my mother is trying on 100 different tops and I'm giving her my opinion on each of them, I walk to the end of the dressing room and do exactly what these photos suggest. When I'm wearing something that I like and think deserves some type of blog publication, I can't do much else than to take the pictures myself if no one else is available. The one thing I've never really gotten over since starting my own fashion blog is my aversion to taking pictures in public. I didn't start this baby because I think I'm particularly photogenic, I just love fashion and wanted an avenue to show that. On an unrelated note, I love these shoes. They remind me of something Kate Spade or DVF would have designed. The black/white combination makes them really fun, and kind of pushes me to wear more color. A printed shoe is such a great way to add something unexpected. Now I just need leopard.

80's Night

In honor of Joe's birthday on Oct. 31, my ladies and I decided that we needed to throw an 80's bash for our favorite boy. Although the party wasn't held on halloween night, we had to have a themed event . Glow sticks were aplenty, the punch bowl was spiked hard, and we danced all night to Wham! and other 80's favorites. Although my white jacket didn't exactly survive the night with all of the red lipstick, makeup and glow stick explosions, it was well worth it in order to celebrate Joe's day and watch Madonna (below) writhe around on top of the birthday boy to "Like A Virgin".

Girl of the Moment: Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne has been on the fashion scene for a while, but it wasn't until she walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this week that her supermodel status was solidified. Obviously, Cara was on the fashion radar before the VS show, but it was great to see people recognizing her outside of the fashion world. Cara received some criticism shortly before her Victoria's Secret debut about not being "pretty" enough to be one of the angels, and that she was an unconventional choice for the lingerie brand. I don't know who these people were, but how can anyone say she's not pretty enough to be an angel? She's better looking and has more personality than most of the current angels, and unlike many of them, actually has a bonafide high fashion modeling career. Criticisms aside, Cara walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year and looked amazing and crushed any doubts that she couldn't be an angel. Can we be best friends?

Before the Leaves Fell

Taken before all of the leaves fell from the trees and winter started to creep up on us, this was a beautiful fall day out on my balcony. From the 7th floor we have a pretty fantastic view of the woods, and although they're just branches and twigs now, it's still perfect and will only get better with the first snow fall. I believe this day had one of the temperatures where all you need is a light sweater, and if I recall correctly, I left the house with no coat. I miss those days.

Evening Inspiration

Lately I am finding myself in need of inspiration. Whether it comes in the form of advice from good friends, wise words from family or my own inner musings, it's always helpful to put things into perspective. A lot has changed in my life as of late, and although I don't know how to deal with it yet, it's taught me that I can't take anything in my life for granted. No matter what we do in life, we need to be able to appreciate what we have, and to never be afraid to be honest with others or with ourselves. As someone very important to me once told me, "that's what love it, it's extreme affection or it's extreme pain." Change is hard, but I am a firm believer in the sentiment that everything will work out as it should.
